The Arizona Historical Society, established in 1884, is a statewide institution devoted to preserving and interpreting Arizona history. The Arizona History Museum houses a large history museum with exhibits, a library, archives, artifact collections, and administrative offices. Exhibits include a life-size copper mine, transportation hall, history hall, period rooms c. 1900, interactive look at frontier Tucson, and a variety of changing exhibits. The Journal of Arizona History.
Location:On the corner of Park Avenue and 2nd Street, just west of the University of Arizona. Arizona History Museum is the main branch of the Arizona Historical Society. Our other Tucson locations include: Downtown Museum, Sosa-Carrillo-Fremont House, and Ft. Lowell Museum.
Parking:Free parking available in garage at Northeast corner of E. 2nd St. and N. Euclid Ave., use 2nd St. entrance.
Hours of Operation:Monday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Closed-- Jan. 1, MLK Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving, Dec. 25th.
Admission Fees:Admission $5.00; ages 12-18 and 60+, $4.00; ages 11 and younger, Free; AHS members, Free.

Arranging a Visit:Reservations are required with 3 weeks advance notice. No fee required. The average tour lasts 50 minutes. Minimum group size is 5; the maximum group size is 60. Chaperones are required with a preferred ratio of 1 to 10 students. Grade range: all ages.
Other Resources:An excellent research library contains a wide variety of material on Arizona history including photo archives, newspaper microfilm, maps, city directories, etc. Please call for library hours (520) 617-1157.

Outreach Programs:Suitcase Presentations Docents present one-hour, interactive programs exploring past lifeways using artifact kits. These Suitcases can also be rented for the week. Amazing Arizonans Enjoy in-class presentations by characters from our living history program and take a magical tour into Arizona's past. Arizona History Textbooks Two secondary level textbooks are available: the award-winning Studies in Arizona History and Arizona Constitution and Government.
